Sierra Nevada East Side Photo Tour

Participant Profiles

Hello, fellow photographers.  My name is Jeff Jones.  I am 51, live in Encinitas, CA, and have been casually shooting pictures since I was introduced to photography in Junior High School and purchased my first camera (a Canon AE-1).

Most of my photographic work has been shooting friends and family with an emphasis on sports photography.  I have started experimenting with landscapes with recent trips to Yellowstone, Yosemite, and Zion.  Honestly, I am underwhelmed with my work.  As such, I look forward to my first workshop and the opportunity to improve my composition and exposure skills while having fun!

My name is Walt Bizzare, the son of Alfred - an Italian born in Los Angeles - and my mother Velma from Pacific Grove, Ca.

I grew up mostly in LA then joined the Army and was stationed in France for 2 1/2 years.  Upon returning I worked my way through college and have a degree in Math from Cal State Fullerton.  My last job was at Lawrence Livermore Lab as a computer scientist.

I am now retired and living in Orinda, CA with my partner Susan Lucier.

l’m Clark Anderson and I’ve been taking pictures since I was a working in camera store and a darkroom developing my Rolleiflex shots for the local newspaper. I recently retired and I’m loving getting away from my computers and cybersecurity and getting out again with Ken and Dave for another great time.

I’ve done studio and off camera flash, and even aerial 9x9 film, but my passion is getting into the wilderness and taking bird, wildlife, and scenic photos. Moved to Las Vegas 2 years ago from Florida and I’m loving visiting the surrounding desert and mountain areas.

One of my early cameras was the original film version Olympus OM1, and now I use the new digital OM1.  I just converted my older EM1 II Olympus to full spectrum and I’m playing with filtered UV and IR landscapes and plants.

A suggestion for the group:  Since I’ve got a lot of Florida swamp mosquito experience, I strongly recommend using a Picaridin based repellent as it doesn’t attack camera plastics and seals like the others.

Looking forward to the trip.

My name is Tom Robison, 72 years old, retired and an avid photographer.  I've been photographing since my shallow years when my oldest brother gave an Argus C3 (black brick) to use. I used it for many years and I'll bet if I looked hard enough I could find some slides I took with it.  I shot slide film for many years until I bought a Nikon D200.  From there I've never looked back.

I shoot mainly landscape pictures although I've got hundreds of photos in my Lightroom catalog from my trips to France and England.  I'm also looking forward to photographing the German and Austrian Christmas markets this December.

My camera of choice is my Nikon D810 with a few zooms.  I am also outfitted with a plethora of manual AIS lenses which I am loathe to part with.  I'll probably break a few out during the Sierra photo excursion which I'm looking forward to being a part of.
